Asha Lopez

Asha Lopez is an experienced employment litigator who spent the first decade of her career on the other side of the aisle, defending employers, including Fortune 500 companies, against discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and harassment claims in California state and federal court. That background is her edge. She now brings that experience, and her instinct for the fight, to the employees she represents at Laurel. Having mastered the defense's playbook, Asha knows how employers prepare their cases, where those cases break, and what it takes to beat them. She has handled workplace disputes at every stage, from pre-litigation investigations and depositions through dispositive motions and jury trials.

Before joining Laurel, Asha practiced labor and employment law at Jackson Lewis and Medina McKelvey, and earlier litigated complex civil, contract, and probate matters at California firms. She earned her J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), and holds a B.A. in Philosophy and African & African American Studies from UC Davis.

Asha has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2024 and 2025) and one of the National Black Lawyers' Top 40 Under 40. She is a former board member of the Charles Houston and Wiley W. Manuel Bar Associations.

Outside the office, Asha treasures time with her husband and daughter, and enjoys traveling abroad.
