After more than a decade as a high-powered executive in Corporate America, CEO and Founder Joshua White started Laurel Employment Law. Frustrated with what he saw from poorly run law firms offering a poor client experience and companies that treated their employees like commodities instead of human beings, Joshua set out to build an employment law firm different than anything that had come before it.
After graduating near the top of his class at the UCLA School of Law, Joshua went into private practice in Santa Monica, California, practicing complex commercial litigation focused on multi-million dollar bet-the-company cases. From there, Joshua enjoyed a highly decorated tenure as Head of Strategy and General Counsel for a large multinational corporation. During his tenure, he helped grow the company to nearly $400 million in revenue while being named the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Rising Star General Counsel of the Year in 2016.
More than a decade inside the C-Suite left Joshua with unique strategic insights into how employers think and a foundational understanding of how good businesses operate. Laurel was constructed to capitalize on that experience to do what matters most: win for our clients.
Most recently, Joshua has been recognized as one of the top litigators in his field, being named one of the Daily Journal’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers of 2026 as well as the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2026 Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys.
Joshua’s passion for the dignified and fair treatment of employees inspired him to start Laurel Employment Law and build a culture around the concept of radical optimism. Since starting the firm, Laurel has won countless awards for being a great place to work, including Best Places to Work in California 2025, Best Places to Work in SoCal 2025 and 2026, Best Places to Work in Los Angeles 2025 and 2026, Best Remote Workplaces 2026, Best Places to Work for Women 2026, and Best Places for Career Growth 2026. Laurel was also named one of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2025 Disruptors for its innovative approach to the practice of law.
When he’s not winning for our clients, Joshua enjoys making memories with his wife Pippa, their son Teddy, and their dogs Ruby and Charlie.
